Why juggle 2 or 3 security systems when you only need to manage the one ? The ability to combine and manage different electronic security functions under one system is deemed to be an integrated system.
Traditionally integrated systems are modular and scalable in design, meaning that they can be expanded to suite the client’s requirements, the nature of the site/building or even geographically dispersed multi-site applications. Normally combining any one of the three major electronic security functions: (1) Intruder Alarms (2) Access Control & (3) Surveillence Cameras (CCTV), integrated systems can be great time and money savers.
An example of a small site application is a GE Challenger System which is an intruder alarm system with integrated access control. This enables a client to issue staff proximity cards which enable not only access into the building but also allow for arming and disarming of the system from the same point. Via TITAN management software this can allow management to confirm operating hours, staff start and leaving times, but also ensure easy operation of the alarm as you no longer have to remember a pincode. Larger applications can see a multi-site systems managed from a central head office within a security control room. This control room would be able to issue access cards with specific access rights, along with being able to remotely arm intruder alarms by area or by site. Further, CCTV cameras can confirm identification of individuals entering and leaving the building as photo IDs flash on screen to confirm ID at certain entry points.
